Now that it’s being publicly promoted by the convention, and has been crowed about by its GoH, I guess it’s safe for me to post this news.
This year’s Shore Leave convention in Hunt Valley, Md., will be kicking off with a bawdy new event:
The inaugural year’s guest of honor is none other than bestselling author, IAMTW Grandmaster, and all-around awesome guy Keith R.A. DeCandido (aka kradical to LJ users).
Serving as roastmaster for the evening will be Shore Leave’s one-man cult of personality, Bob Greenberger.
Filling out the roast panel for this inauspicious event will be … (drumroll, please) …
David Mack (that’s me)
Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore
Kirsten Beyer (appearing on video)
Michael Jan Friedman
Marco Palmieri
Glenn Hauman
and our special guest …
Peter David!
Download the high-resolution flier (JPEG, 1.8MB) for the event and be in the Hunt Valley Marriott’s resplendent Hunt Ballroom on Friday July 10 at 7pm. Spend an hour drinking and mingling with the roast panel and the guest of honor (because we’ll all be funnier once the audience is drunk).
All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross. Those of us on the dais will be making contributions of $50 in Keith’s name to this deserving charity, and we’ll be inviting all attendees to donate $1 or $5 or whatever you’re willing to give, and to sign up for the convention’s annual blood drive.
If laughter is the best medicine, here’s hoping we’ll see you all in Health! (Apologies to Stephen Colbert…)
