Talking ‘Rogue’ on The 24 Podcast

24 RogueLast week, I was interviewed via Skype by Joshua Rivers of The 24 Podcast about my most recently published novel, 24: Rogue.

We discussed how I got my start in the business before diving into the inspiration behind, research for, and influences upon, my contribution to the continuing adventures of Jack Bauer.

Joshua also gave me a chance to talk about what kinds of stories I think work best in prose vs. which work best on screen, and why; the advantages of prose storytelling over scripted narratives; and much more. I also reveal the novel’s one big continuity error that somehow slipped past everyone involved in the book’s vetting process.

Listen to the interview here. It runs about half an hour and should give you a pretty good idea what the book is all about.

Running my mouth on The G&T Show

seekers3_largeA few days ago I was persuaded to once again call into and be interviewed by the folks at The G&T Show. This time my interrogators were hosts Nick Minecci and Michael Madeiros.

We talked about a wide range of topics, including the ups and downs of the writing life, my recently published works (Star Trek: Seekers #3 – Long Shot and 24: Rogue), and my upcoming projects (book two of the Star Trek: Legacies trilogy and Dark Arts, my own historical fantasy trilogy for Tor Books).

Listen to the entire interview here.

Yak Alert! Seekers on Literary Treks

Never one to refuse an invitation to flap my trap, I’m back on a yak attack talking Star Trek: Seekers and more with Matt and Dan from Literary Treks on Trek.fm!

LitTreks_Seekers3_long promo

We cover a lot of details about the series’ third book, Long Shot, and we even dig into some more personal aspects of the creative process, and talk about how much of myself I invest into my characters, and how I do so. As is our wont, we also had a few good laughs in the process.

I also teased a few details about my upcoming original series of novels for Tor Books,  click through and give it a listen.

More Podcasty Goodness!

ST.Section.31.Disavowed.CvrAs promised, here is the second half of my recent interview with Michael and Ros, hosts of The Captain’s Table on VisionaryTrek.com.

In Part Two of their new interview with me (recorded on January 30, 2015), we cover a number of subjects, including my recent and upcoming book projects. (Listen to Part One here.)

Topics included my recent Star Trek: Section 31 novel Disavowed, my upcoming Jack Bauer novel 24: Rogue, and The Midnight Front, my upcoming original trilogy for Tor Books.

It was a fun and informative conversation, so if you have an hour to spare, give it a listen!

Talkin’ Trek on The Captain’s Table

Because I’ve rarely met a podcast invitation I didn’t like, I spent a couple of hours back in January chatting about writing Star Trek and more with co-hosts Michael and Roz from The Captain’s Table on VisionaryTrek.com.

We talked about some of my previous work, including the Star Trek Destiny and Star Trek: Cold Equations trilogies; the recently launched Star Trek: Seekers series; and some of my upcoming projects, both for and beyond Star Trek.

I also mention which author I think would be a good fit to step in to take my place on the Star Trek: Seekers books if the editors decide they want more of that series before my schedule allows me to return.

This, of course, is only Part 1 of a two-part show. When the second part goes live, I’ll let you know.

This was a fun and sprawling conversation that follows up on their show last week, in which they talked among themselves regarding my two writing credits for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
